Just a hint at my veil
Mike (and his dad and brother) has been super busy with calving, especially with the weather being sooooo crummy. They have been sharing the over night check so every 3rd night Mike is out at the farm.Last night was so cold, they were checking every 2 hours. Hey have almost 50 calves born so far, they should have around 420 when they are all done some time in June.
Since we got the ok from the church that we could get married there, and the pastor said he would marry us, we haven't done anything else with it until now. I figured with my parents up here it was the perfect time to go to church, meet Pastor Paul and see what our option are for decorating. Service was at 8:45 and since the church is past the farm a ways, and we had to pick Mike up, my parents and I were out the door at 7:30 (WAY to early to be up and motivated on a Sunday) but it was worth it. Pastor Paul was so nice, along with everyone there. Mike knew a lot of the people since they are neighbors. My dad even seen someone he knew! Only he could go to a church with an attendance of 30 people that Sunday and know a guy. (Of course he was a fellow rail roader) I am a little bummed to say I don't think I will be able to use the pew decorations I had designed. The sides are not square, the are curved, and very narrow at the top. We might be able to improvise on the pew hook and make it work but I love the sides and don't think I want to cover them up/ take away from their charm.....I have some thinking to do.
In celebration of St. Patrick's Day I hosted a corned beef and cabbage family dinner. My parents, Mike's parents his sister and we all got to enjoy this tradition while siting at my great grandmother's table. It was expanded from the little 2 person table in my kitchen to hold all 7 of us with room to spare. It almost didn't get pulled apart though. My mom and I both took a side and pulled, nothing happened. We assumed there was a lock but we couldn't find one. So after fighting with it my dad flipped it on its top and we looked at the gears on the bottom, he tried moving them, pulling on the table and pounding on it.... it didn't open. So he decided to take the middle leg off and see what was going on with the middle of the seam. He loosed the 8 screws and picked the leg up. As he did it my mom says, "whats that wire" as he reveals what turns out to be the latch to hold the table together, with the wire running from it, out the side and attached to a ring. HOLY was that frustrating, Between the poor light in the kitchen and the ring being black with age we didn't notice it. So after he put the leg back on we had it set to seat 7 plus people in just a few minutes. We got a good laugh out of our unobservantness (yea I know that isn't a word lol)
It was so nice to have everyone over to our house for dinner. *with the exception of Mike's brother and sister in law* they had to stay home and check the cows since it was so cold. I don't host family dinner often, but it was fun and I want to try and do it more. Especially when we can get both families together!
